Barrett Upton {Three Months}

Barrett,

It is hard to believe it has been 3 full months since you came and rocked your mama and daddy's world. I have had a hard time transitioning back to working and not spending every minute with you, but I know this is what is best for our family. We are so thankful you are such a happy, healthy, smiley baby. We are starting to see your sweet personality and I can't wait to see more of it.
We love you so much!

Mama

This months highlights:
Let's start with the important stuff your stats:
Height/Weight- You do not have a dr appt this month so I am not exactly sure but I am going to guess and say approx 13 lbs. and getting close to 24 in.
This month we switched to size 2 diapers, they are a bit big but the 1s were starting to get pretty snug. You are still wearing 0-3 month clothes, they fit perfectly except for the length. You, my friend, are one long baby.
We hear you look just like your daddy a lot, which I completely agree with. We still get a few people tell us that you look like your mama. It's usually when you have that big bottom lip out, which you definitely got from your mama (Sorry Baby Bear!!)
Mama started back work part-time which meant Baby Bear also had to start daycare. Luckily, my bosses allowed you to spend the first week in the office with me which made this HUGE transition much easier.
You seem to enjoy daycare and the daycare is keeping you on the schedule that I worked so hard to get you use to. The transition has been a lot harder on me than you. I hate leaving you on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays but I know you will benefit from the interaction with other little babies and it is good for me to have a few "Mama only" moments.
Since starting back to work I have a better idea of how much you are eating since you are having to take a bottle at daycare. You are eating about 3.5 oz every 2.5-3hrs.
You are still talking up a storm. I just love to hear your sweet sweet voice and our convos always make my day.
For the most part you are a GREAT sleeper and this very tired Mama is incredibly thankful. Most nights you eat your big dinner around 8-8:30 pm and then we say our night-night prayers by 9 and you usually sleep until anywhere from 2-4 am I feed you for about 30 mins and then lay you right back down in your crib and you sleep until 6:30 am when you have to get up so I can feed you and get you ready for school. You usually wake up on your own but every once in a while you want to sleep in a little bit later.
You have found your hands and would much rather suck on them instead of your paci.
You are definitely a morning baby. Your daddy and I sing "Good Morning Good Morning" to you every morning and you just smile smile smile.
Your favorite activity is playing on your playmat and with the toys on the playmat.

And the photo dump from this past month:

You still have the best expressions.

We have all decided that you definitely get your facial expressions from your Mama!

Daddy had to travel to LA for work, so you and I took a long trip to Tennessee to visit Mimi, Poppi, and your adorable cousins who love you dearly. We then spent a few days in North Alabama hanging out with Grammy and PawPaw.
Talking with Mimi at Chick-fil-a (our favorite restaurant)
Morning snuggles with your cousin Keegan.
Spending some quality time with your Nana.

We ate at my favorite Lebanon restaurant (Los Compadres) a whopping 4 times in a week and a half while we were in town.
Selfie at the mexican restaurant :)

You helped your Mimi get her classroom all ready for her new students.
You met a bunch of Mama's friends while we were in Tennessee. I definitely loved showing you off to everyone.
One of Mama's former teachers, Mrs. Fryer.

Coffee with Mama's friend Chelsea from high school.

You had your first (of many) swim in Grammy and PawPaw's pool.

You loved to sit in my lap while I was working. You were my little helper :)
We celebrated Daddy's birthday (last year in his 20s).

Watching Mama workout. I love when you and Aubie sit and watch me workout.
Love this view while working out!

Your first crush ;)
Kenley and Baby B

During your "witching hour" the only thing that stops your crying is going outside and sitting on the front porch. This has become a daily activity of ours.

Five on Friday: 8.28.15

Today's five are a mix of complete randomness. Let's dive in :)

1. Today is my Mama's birthday! I am so thankful for her and everything she does for me.

2. P90
I started P90 the same day I started back to work so I am finishing up week 4 tomorrow. I am really enjoying it, I know there are people out there who do not like Tony Horton's style of motivation but I love it and can basically repeat all his goofy sayings throughout the dvds.
After I finish up the "A" section of P90 I am planning on doing a review so check back in a few weeks for that!

3. I am so excited that neither Zach nor I are traveling this weekend! It is so nice to spending a much needed weekend with my little family at our little house! I already have a mile long to do list to catch up from all the traveling I have been doing!
This will definitely be me tonight!

4. In honor of Wednesday being National Dog Day, here is a picture of my one and only fur baby who we love dearly.

5. My favorite picture of B from this week.

B looks straight up gangster with his little hat turned sideways on family walk around the neighborhood.
I couldn't choose just one he looked so darn cute on our walk with his little hat from his Mimi.

Barrett Upton {Two Months}

Baby Bear,

Month two has been filled with many ups and downs, but we are finally figuring each other out and I am starting to notice your sweet personality. Your sweet smiled lights up the room and mama and daddy can't get enough of it. You are your mama and daddy's pride and joy, we love showing you off any chance we get! We are so lucky to be your parents and we love you so very much!

Love,
Mama

Month 2 highlights:
Stats: weight- 11 lbs 4 oz. (44%) height- 23.75 inches (69%) you're still pretty lanky. Size 1 diapers and can still fit into newborn clothing but are mostly wearing 0-3 month because you are soooo long!
You are still being exclusively breastfed and are doing so well! You are still going 2-3 hours in between feedings and will sometimes stretch it to 4 hours during the night.
We celebrated your first Fourth of July at Grammy and Pawpaws.
We started you on a daytime and bedtime routine. The over night sleep routine still needs some fine tuning but that will come with time :)
Sleeping is not your favorite thing, you tend to fight it at any chance you get.
You slept in your crib at night for the first time on July 11th (at 8 weeks old!)
You love your nighttime routine which consists of a bath, story time, and night time prayers. This is probably my favorite time of the day. We keep all the lights off (except a small lamp) after bath time and just sit and spend quality mama/baby bear time in your nursery.
You took your first beach trip to SanDestin! The beach with a six week old is a lot harder than I thought it would be, especially with this summer's hot temps!
You have learned to smile and are constantly smiling whenever someone talks to you! It is the best thing in the whole world! We love to watch your little eyes light up and your 2 huge dimples pop up!! Sweetest thing :)
We celebrated daddy on his very first Father's Day! And we also celebrated your Grammy's birthday!
You gave us a little scare on 7/6/15 with a little fever that ended up with your first overnight hospital stay. Luckily it must have just been a virus and everything cleared up the next day!
You visited Daddy at his office and slept the entire time. Daddy loved showing you off to all his coworkers.
Your facial expressions are still top notch, you definitely get that from your mama!
You love tummy time and laying on your playmat!
Nicknames- baby B, B, baby Barrett, baby bear, boo beary cakes (Mimi)

Barrett Upton {One month}

Since Baby B turned 2 months this past Wednesday I figured I better post his one month update :)

My sweet Barrett,

I cannot believe you are already a month old! My how times flies (and stand still in the middle of those nights when you decide sleeping is not an option). You are the light of your daddy and my life. We are so in love with you and can't believe we are able to call you ours. You have become our little sidekick and we take you everywhere we go and you seem to love it! You experienced so many "firsts" during month one and I have tried my hardest to document each one. This first month has been the most challenging and rewarding time in my life and I wouldn't change it for the world. I am so happy God chose me to be your mama.

Love,
Mama

One month highlights:

  • We didn't have a one month checkup but at your 2 week checkup you weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz, which brought you in at 5 oz over your birthweight! I'm guessing you probably weigh around 9 lbs now!
  • You are exclusively breastfed. You eat on demand, which is usually every 3 hours or maybe a little sooner, and for anywhere between 45 mins to an hour. You definitely love to eat any chance you get for as long as I will let you! Both your daddy and I love food so you definitely come by it honestly :)
  • You are wearing mostly newborn clothes and newborn diapers. Funny story about the diapers- for the first few weeks we were constantly getting peed on and had no idea why. Finally we had a friend come over and tell us that we weren't fixing the diaper right. #newparentfail #BabyBOYproblems
  • You went to your first church service and were such a good boy!
  • You enjoy going on long walks around the neighborhood in your stroller while we walk your big brother Aubie.
  • You rolled over from your tummy to your back while you were on your playmat but have yet to do it again.
  • You love to hang out in your mamaroo but only for 30-45 mins max then you want have to be held.
  • You made your first trip to Mimi and Poppi's in TN and everyone loved seeing you. The 4.5 hour car ride was great. We only had to stop once a little over half way to feed you!
  • You had your first day at the pool and lake. You slept the entire time at both so I'm assuming you liked to be at the pool and lake
  • Your Grammy came and visited after you were first born and helped your mama and daddy adjust to being first time parents!
  • Your Mimi and cousins Keegan and Quinn Thomas came and spent some time with you. Keegan was immediately in love with her baby cousin and loved to sit around and pet you like a dog and tell us how "cuuuuuute" she thought you were. It took some time for Quinn Thomas to warm up but he eventually did. I can see y'all being best buds and getting into lots of trouble together in the near future!
  • You love listening to your daddy talk, you stare very intently at him whenever he starts speaking.
  • You have the best judgybaby face. You constantly look at me like you aren't too sure I know what I'm doing, and you're right but I am learning everyday and loving that you get to teach me how to be a Mama!
  • You love being snuggled in close to your Mama to take a nap and I cannot complain. It is one of my favorites times of day. I love to hold you tight and look at you peacefully sleeping!

Here is a photo dump of some of my favorite Baby B pictures from your first month!
